    If you completed the contact person registration last year, there is no need to register again. You may proceed directly to the registration process.
  4. Preliminary Registration Form 
  5. Important Notes for Preliminary Registration:
    • Registration Period: The system will be open for registration from March 25 to April 21, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
    • Student Email Requirement:The student email entered in the registration form will serve as the primary contact for exam-related notifications. Ensure the email address is correct (shared emails are allowed).
    • The admission notice (exam permit) will be sent to the student's email, which must be printed out by the student. The notice contains test site information, but it will not be checked on the exam day.
    • Review of Registration Eligibility:The National Junior High Science Olympiad (IJSO) team will review student eligibility. Registration will not be successful if:
      • The student’s age or academic status does not meet the requirements.
      • The number of registrants exceeds the quota.
      • Students from Science Talent Classes or winners of the Science Fair fail to submit proof of eligibility to bolten@ntnu.edu.tw.
    • Eligibility Criteria for Preliminary Registration:
      • Students must meet all of the following conditions:
      • Hold Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality.
      • Born on or after January 1, 2010.
      • Have been studying in Taiwan for at least one year and are currently enrolled in a junior high school under Taiwan’s education system.
      • Have not previously been selected as a national team representative for the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
    • School Quota for Registration:
      • General Quota: Junior high schools and high schools (junior high divisions) may recommend students for the preliminary written test based on the following formula:
        • One student per four classes (Total number of classes ÷ 4 = number of students eligible for recommendation). If there is a remainder, one additional student may be recommended. Example: A school with 46 classes → 46 ÷ 4 = 11 remainder 2 → 12 students may be recommended.
        • Schools may add one additional female student, which does not count towards the school’s quota.
        • Schools with students selected as national team representatives in 2024 may recommend up to 5 additional students beyond their general quota.
      • Additional Quotas for Science Fair Winners:
        Schools may also recommend students who have received Top Honors (1st Place) or High Distinction (2nd Place) in the Regional Science Fair (Junior High Division). These students do not count towards the school’s general quota. Proof of award (scanned certificate) must be emailed to bolten@ntnu.edu.tw during registration.
      • Additional Quotas for Science Talent Class Students:
        Schools may recommend students who have been admitted to a high school Science Talent Class (approved by the Ministry of Education). These students do not count towards the school’s general quota. Proof of admission (scanned notification) must be emailed to bolten@ntnu.edu.tw during registration.
